Govt trying to weaken agitation in Nowshera-Sunderbani: Ex-MLC

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Feb 28: Former MLC and chief spokesperson of PCC Ravinder Sharma has expressed serious concern over the continued stalemate over the issue of posting of ADCs and according district status to Nowshera-Sunderbani and Kalakote areas and also took strong exception to the arms twisting methods being adopted by the Government to weaken the movement of the people.
Sharma said that the administration at the behest of some ruling leaders have lodged police cases against some youth as part of pressure tactics, which is totally undemocratic and arbitrary as the peaceful protests for simple administrative facilities are sought to be crushed like this under the present regime, while those who indulge in anti-national and mischievous activities day in and day out are dealt differently, that too in BJP regime.
The popular movements of people for the genuine cause are being dealt in this manner by the arrogant leaders of the ruling party, who are not ready to tolerate and bear the non-violent protests by the people to give vent to their resentment against neglect and discrimination over the arbitrary distribution (Bandar-Baant) by BJP and PDP Ministers of these administrative units for their respective constituencies without adopting any procedure and criteria or considering the genuine demands of other deserving areas.
These measures would be counter-productive for the Government and administration and they shall be well advised to sort out the issue amicably based on merit and criteria through dialogue and discussions.
