Govt to review performance of Law Officers: Minister

JAMMU, Mar 30: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs today said that performance of the Law Officers would be effectively monitored to ensure proper representation of State cases pending in different courts.
He was replying to the question of independent MLA from Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid in the Legislative Assembly.
“Government is committed to provide speedy justice to the masses and all necessary measures are being taken in this regard”, he said, adding “no doubt large number of cases are pending before various courts in the State but various initiatives are being taken to minimize the pendency of cases”.
Stating that judicial infrastructure is being constantly and regularly upgraded in the State, the Minister said, “computerization of courts is also a step forward in that direction”, adding “High Court has also issued instructions for speedy disposal of cases”.
“Lok Adalats are being held regularly to settle the disputes through mediation and reconciliation. Moreover, State Litigation Policy has been notified and put in place on the pattern of the National Litigation Policy”, he further said, adding “this policy will be effective measure in taking care of all aspects of litigation including proper and effective mechanism for conduct of cases”.
According to the Minister, training of Judicial Officers and Public Prosecutors is an important component of the State Policy and it has become a regular feature for improving knowledge and professional skill.
“A comprehensive mechanism has also been put in place for conduct of criminal cases before the High Court”, he added while claiming that all these steps are likely to bring down the pendency at various levels and gear up speedy disposal of cases.
