Govt to de-notify non- deserving RBA villages

JAMMU, Mar 26: Minister for Social Welfare and Forests, Bali Bhagat today said that Government would de-notify all such villages which do not deserve to remain in the category of RBA.
While replying to the question of Master Noor Hussain from NC and subsequent supplimentaries of Vivod Gupta from BJP, Surinder Choudhary from PDP, Naresh Gupta, Jugal Kishore and Ravinder Sharma from Congress, the minister said that the previous regime under political considerations included many such villages in the Backward Area category which did not deserve at all. He said he will get all the cases examine through Chairman of the Commission for the purpose  and would set the system right.
Mr Bhagat said he does not believe in holding inquires or adopt revengeful attitude but would review all such cases and de-notify all such villages which do not deserve to be included in the RBA category. He said there are many such villages which are now situated on the roads and enjoy many facilities and now do not fall in this category. The people of such areas need not to get benefit under this category.
Most of the members including Ravinder Sharma stressed upon the Government to rise above the political considerations and do justice with the areas which really deserve to be in the list of RBA category.
Earlier, while replying to the main question of master Master Noor  Hussain,  Bali Bhagat admitted that village/ Panchayat Mohargarh in Samba has been declared  as Backward area. When asked why villagers are not being provided benefit under RBA if it falls in RBA, the minister said his department has not  received any such compliant. There must be some communication gap and he would look into the matter and pass on directions to the DC concerned to ensure better publicity so that people come to know about it. He welcomed this suggestion of the members to do such publicity in all the districts. It was pointed out that during previous regime more than 200 villages were included in the RBA which even do not deserve at all.
