Govt terminates services of Commercial Taxes Officer for misusing official position

JAMMU, Sept 11: Taking disciplinary action, the Government has removed Peerzada Zahoor Illahi, then Incharge Commercial Taxes Officer, Sopore, from services of the State with immediate effect as he was held guilty of misusing his official position.
Mr Illahi was accused of  opening/operating the forged account and making transactions, misuse of  his official position, violation of Government rules and instruction relating to management of finances and accounts, failure to maintain integrity and for dereliction of duty.
Action against his  been taken in terms of sub-rule (vii) of Rule 30 of the J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
Following some complaints, a preliminary enquiry was ordered against the accused officer in 2012 by then Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Showkat Aijaz. On the basis of preliminary enquiry report and subsequent reply of Mr Illahi on the chargesheet served upon him, a departmental enquiry was ordered in 2013 with then Commissioner Commercial Taxes Kifayat Hussain Rizvi as the enquiry Officer.
After the departmental enquiry held the officer guilty of charges against him, the Disciplinary Authority was of the view that the major penalty of removal from services of the State be imposed upon Peerzada Zahoor Illahi and therefore subsequent action was taken in terms of J&K Civil Services Rules 1956.
