Govt taking measures for empowerment of poor, downtrodden: Kohli

RAJOURI, Apr 14: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli today said the Government is taking one after the other step for empowerment of poor, youth, women, senior citizens and downtrodden sections of the society.
The Minister was addressing public grievances redressal camps at Manwa, Barwari and Bandi Gala in Kalakote constituency of Rajouri.
During the camps, the Minister was apprised about the problems being faced by the people of these far-flung and remote areas related to power supply, road connectivity, education, healthcare, sanitation and ration distribution. They also demanded up-gradation of transformers, replacement of electric poles, LT and HT wires, blacktopping of roads and construction of lanes and drains in their respective areas.
The Minister assured them that all their genuine concerns and demands would be addressed in a phased manner. He also gave instructions to the concerned officers for redressing the issues.
On the occasion, the Minister said that steps are being taken to upgrade the transformers and repairing of old ones, wherever required. He urged the people to extend their support in strengthening the developmental initiatives started across the state and asked them to avail maximum benefit of the schemes launched by the Government.
The Minister said that to ensure holistic and sustainable development, the Government has consciously ensured proportional allocation of resources in its Budget.
With regard to construction of new roads in Manwa, Barwari and Bandi Gala, the Minister said that development is not possible without road connectivity. He said the instructions have already been given to the concerned to frame DPRs of those areas and habitations which have not been covered under road connectivity so far.
