SRINAGAR, June 27: Terming spurt in militant attacks on security forces as a cause of concern, Government today said that it is reviewing overall security situation in the State and is devising strategy to counter spurt in militant attacks.
Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar said the State Government is reviewing the entire security scenario of the State and how to respond to it. “The State Government is reviewing the entire security scenario on how to respond to the attacks like the two-three which happened recently which is their (militants’) new strategy. “It first happened in one or two places in Anantnag and now here, so the State Government is reviewing the entire security structure,” he said.
Akhtar said from Prime Minister to Home Minister everybody has condemned the attack on CRPF troopers.  “Our Chief Minister condemned it very strongly. She went to lay the wreaths on the brave jawans who gave their lives in the defence of the country and the State. We have full respect for them,” he said.
Lauding the valor of soldiers, the Minister said the Government would provide compensation to next of kin as per the set protocol. “As far as the compensation is concerned, it will surely be given according to the normal protocol. There is no question on that,” he said.
Akhtar made the statement after ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Opposition Congress party legislators created uproar in Legislative Council against deadly attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) last week and demanded Government to declare Pakistan a “terrorist State”.
As soon as the House met, the BJP and Congress lawmakers took to their feet and raised the issue of the attack on CRPF at Pampore that left 8 paramilitary soldiers dead and over 20 injured. The members from BJP demanded that the House should condemn the attack and also Government to declare Pakistan a terrorist State as the attack was claimed by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit.
BJP lawmaker, Surinder Ambardar said that the Government should declare Pakistan as a terrorist State while as another party lawmaker, Ramesh Arora, took a dig at Government for allowing separatists to attend Iftar party organized by Pakistan High Commission.
“It is very unfortunate that the Government is allowing separatists to attend Iftar parties organized by Pakistan High Commission on a day when our jawans were being killed,” he said, adding: “CRPF soldiers are laying their lives for our safety but if you cannot provide them land neither the Government, we should at least condemn it.”
Earlier, in the Legislative Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs today demanded action against Pakistan over attack on a CRPF convoy.
The BJP members led by Ravinder Raina started shouting anti-Pakistan slogans as soon as the House assembled for the proceedings and called for bombing of militant camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
They also demanded that the House pass a resolution to condemn Pakistan for the attack at Pampore. However, Independent MLA from Langate Sheikh Abdul Rashid joined the issue by demanding justice for five civilians killed in the security forces firing during protests against alleged molestation bid of a school girl in Handwara in April this year.
