Govt releases Rs 33 lakh for 245 medical cases

SRINAGAR, June 29: As a major relief to the patients suffering from serious ailments, Government today cleared cases of 245 persons and sanctioned an amount of Rs. 33 lakh for patients suffering from heart, kidney, hepatitis and other serious ailments.
On the directions of Chief Minister, a meeting of J&K Medical Aid Trust was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary. It was attended by Secretary to the Chief Minister, M. H. Malik, Director Health Services Kashmir, Principal GMC, Srinagar, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister and other senior officers.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Medical Aid Trust Scheme was started in the year 1989 and was re-constituted in year 2003 vide SRO-142 of 2003. The scheme provides the much needed medical aid to various patients who are suffering from various diseases and belong to economically backward sections of the society.
