JAMMU, May 26: The Government today ordered inquiry into large-scale promotions ordered by former Principal of Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr Zahid Geelani following series of complaints by the aggrieved staff seeking quashing of orders issued by the Principal, who was recently removed by the Government and replaced with Dr Sunanda Raina.
Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat told the Excelsior that he has forwarded series of complaints received by him to Commissioner/Secretary Health and Medical Education Pawan Kotwal with a direction to inquire into the promotions and other acts and submit the report to him.
Bhagat said further action in the matter will be taken after receipt of the inquiry report from the Commissioner/ Secretary.
A number of staff members, who had been affected by the promotions, have written to the Health and Medical Education Minister seeking an inquiry into them followed by quashing of the order especially those, which have reportedly been ordered out-of-turn.
Not only the Health and Medical Education Minister but the GMC Principal has also received number of complaints pertaining to the promotions.
