NOWSHERA, Mar 2: Former MLC  and PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, has alleged that Government was not visible on the ground, especially in Rajouiri and Poonch area.
He paid visit to  Nowshera-Sunderbani tehsils and held series of meetings with party functionaries and prominent members of civil society during his two days tour of the area.
While addressing  a public  meeting at Nowshera today,  PCC leader   said that the Govt has failed on all fronts and the general public is struggling for the  basic amenities of life like ration, drinking water, power, road connectivity, education and Medicare facilities. There is great resentment amongst the people against the Government.
Congress leader  said that Govt instead of  ameliorating the people’s problems is busy in wrongful acts. He blamed the Govt for weakening  the Panchayats through undemocratic steps. He said that the bifurcation of wards is being done within a short period of time by the Rural Development Department – which is a Government department – and it is not acceptable because political interests are being fulfilled though the government department. Instead of engaging RDD, the Government should have given task of bifurcation to an independent commission to restore confidence of people but it was not done. The Government has also denied direct elections of Sarpanches,”
He said that the Panchayat elections which the Government will conduct would not be fair under the present system and it should be made transparent. Sharma said that the PDS system of the State Govt. has been totally collapsed. It has miserably failed to provide ration to the people even after increasing the price at the rate.
He expressed concern over the back door appointments in various departments especially in police. He demanded that Govt should adopt fair recruitment policy, while giving due representation to all parts of the state.
The meeting was presided over by Harbans Lal Baksh, president Block Congress Committee Nowshera and attended by prominent leaders including Som Nath, Jagdish Sawhney, Master Ashok Kumar, Doulat Ram, Mukund Lal, Rajinder Singh, Baisakhi Ram, Isher Singh, Capt. Ravinder Singh, Ramji Dass Sharma, Ch Mohd Shafi and others.
