JAMMU, Apr 23: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president HL Chatta and discussed the political scenario in J&K. The meeting was attended by large number of members of the conference.
The speakers said that the present Government has totally failed and non-serious to solve the problems of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, which has encouraged the land grabbers to encroach/grab the lands of the KP community people and also the religious places.
They added that the recent allotment of migrant quarters at Jagti has been made on pick and choose policy by the Government authorities thus ignoring the needy families from such facilities though residential verification of such families stands made by the Relief Commissioner Office some time before.
RK Raina, senior vice president said that the Government was informed about encroachments/grabbing of lands of KPs and Hindu religious places, but the Government failed to give any heed to this problem. Not only this, the Government itself denied providing admission to the children of migrant families in professional courses in J&K, which other States of the country are providing, he added.
HL Chatta said that the present Government has failed to show any interest in solving burning problems of the displaced community which include encroachment of properties and land of Hindu religious places in Kashmir.
He lambasted the Government for failure to resolve the issues of the Jagti Township inmates including regular power cuts, adjustment of proper teaching faculty, drainage and health problems.
“Jobs to about 3000 youths, age relaxation in favour of aged youths, one time stipend of Rs 25 lakh are some of the issues, which remained un-attended by the Government, he added.
He urged the Government to redress the issues at the earliest and demanded action against the culprits who have encroached Hindu religious places.
