Govt has no concrete policy on migrants: NC

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Feb 17: National Conference (NC) Minority Cell in its meeting here today took the Coalition Government to task for not having any concrete policy on return and rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley.
The meeting which was chaired by the president of Cell M K Yogi said that on one hand the Government is claiming to take Pandits back to Valley and on the other hand the process of new registration which was closed over eight years back has been started.
This shows that there is basic contradiction in Government policy.  The meeting said during NC rule the fresh migration from Valley was not encouraged but it shows that the present Union and State Government has no policy on displaced people from Valley. He said hundreds of files have reached relief organization for registration.
While highlighting the problems Yogi said that the relief disbursement is being delayed for months together and since the coalition took over the migrants were provided relief after a gap of two to three months, he added.
He said even the relief of three months was not paid in 2016 and the same is still balance with Government. This shows the non seriousness of the coalition partners towards the migrants, he added.
He said though Maha Shivratri festival is drawing near the migrants have not even been paid cash relief while sugar quota has been totally stopped.
B L Bhat, ex MLC, Ramesh Bharti, Bal Krishan, Mohan Lal Pandit, Harmohinder Singh, Ramesh Bharti and T K Koul attended the meeting.
