Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR,  Mar 14: Pradesh Congress Committee chief G A Mir today accused Govt of neglecting  Gujjar and  Bakerwal communities merely on political lines, as the developmental schemes for upliftment of these poor people are not being executed properly anywhere in the State, with the result these people are being made to suffer for no fault of theirs.
In a press statement here, PCC president said that Coalition Govt led by PDP is depriving the Gujjar- Bakerwals of their basic rights, as the funds for the development of the communities stands unutilized with result the developmental schemes for the community have suffered immensely.  It seems that PDP -BJP Coalition is not taking the welfare of these people seriously, Mir said.
He pointed out that the negligence towards these down trodden and backward population of the State tantamount to punishing them on political lines, which is not only unfortunate, but highly condemnable and unacceptable. He described the approach of the Govt towards this these people as halfhearted.
Mir further added that even the funds allocated to Gujjar-Bakerwal Corporation stands unutilized, as reported, for the reasons known to the Chairman of this Corporation, who happens to the Chief Minister of this State.
He said when a Corporation which is under the control of Chief Minister was not able to utilize the funds allocated, what would be the fate of other Corporations. This is  some thing which needs to be debated and discussed, for the fact, such type of attitude affects the development of backward population, which is mostly living below poverty line.
PCC chief urged upon the Govt to take effective measures and ensure that development of Gujjars and Bakerwals and other backward classes of the State is not affected, for the fact, these people needs to be cared well.
