Govt hoodwinking KPs by using Apex Committee: JKVM

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 15: Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch, in its meeting here today accused the State Government that instead of attending to the problems of the displaced Pandits it has been using the Apex Committee to deceive the displaced KPs as well as the general public.
The meeting while taking serious note of this deception game of State Government has asked Dr R L Bhat, its national vice president, who is also the member of the Apex Committee to dissociate from it so as not to be a part of this deception game.
The meeting was attended by the State president B L Bhat, national general secretary JKVM,  H L Bhat, members Ashokji Batargam, Pran Pandita, Tej Sagar, Shiban Hakhu, Santosh Koul and others. It took stock of the problems faced by the displaced community and expressed solidarity with the community members on strike at Jagti for enhancement of relief and provision of other amenities. It also questioned the Government plea that it had written to the Central Government about the issue.
Addressing the meeting Dr Bhat, said that KPs were not refugees from Afghanistan, or some other foreign land, so that the State Government had to ask the Central Government for aid and extra funds for relieving the problems of the displaced Kashmiris and, to get sanction for attending to their problems.
He said Kashmiri Hindus are as much a part of this State as anybody else. Like all the State subjects of Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri Hindus have a right to the resources, services and facilities of the State. They have a right to a tenth of the State budget, State plans, State jobs and other amenities provided by the Government of the State. They deserve a share in the State jobs and expenditure as per their population, which before their exodus was a tenth of the population.
