Govt grants Rs 700 cr for Darhal segment in 2 years: Zulfkar

JAMMU, Jan 15: Terming present era as golden period of history for Darhal Constituency, senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said that he succeeded in bringing more than Rs 700 crore for the development of Darhal Assembly segment.
While welcoming atleast 51 workers of other political parties in People’s Democratic Party here, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that public is the well judge who has acknowledged the developmental impetus of the present dispensation. He said that people are attracted to this party only because of the pro-people approach.
Expressing satisfaction over liberal funding in rural belts of the State, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that Government has funded more than Rs 700 crore for the last 2 years for development of Darhal Assembly segment. He said that during 2014 election campaign, he briefed former Chief Minister about the importance of Anas Canal project and after taking over as Chief Minister, in his first public address at Kotranka he laid foundation stone of this Rs 100 crore project.
The Minister said that Kotranka Khawas road was in dilapidated condition for the last many decades but now Government managed release of Rs 76 crore for this road under Centre Reserve Funds. He said that this funding was biggest ever funding to any road in the area.
He said that a dream project Government Medical College will soon come up in Mehra Nagrota area for which Government has earmarked 123 Kanal of land. He added that Government has already released Rs 15 crore for Samote Kewal Road, Rs 76 crore for Mirasi Morh -Baglaykote -Kotranka road which will be alternate link to connect the area, Rs 2.29 crore for Rajouri -Darhal road, Rs 1.23 crore for Kotdhara-Karhad road and Rs 1.7 crore for Kangar Gali to Panihad road.
The Minister said the Coalition Government under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti is committed to develop rural areas at par with urban areas of the State.
Highlighting the importance of Budhal – Shopian road, the Minister said that this road is a dream of people and it will be realized soon. He said that this road will bridge all gaps between Budhal area and Kashmir valley.
