JAMMU, Apr 8: Expressing serious concern over scarcity of essential commodities, grim power and water supply in Akhnoor, senior Congress leader and former minister Sham Lal Sharma has said that the administration must come out of deep slumber and infuse responsiveness and an element of accountability in its machinery in order to mitigate the sufferings of people.
Addressing meeting of Block Congress Committee Akhnoor today, Sharma alleged that the present coalition Govt in the State has failed on all fronts. The people of Jammu are experiencing difficulties due to the shortage of electricity, erratic water supply and scarcity of ration at the ration depots. He said the authorities are not paying any attention to these burning problems of the common man.
Launching scathing attack on BJP Govt, Sham Lal said that the shortage of ration in Jammu region speaks about the insensitivity and callousness of the authorities. He said there is shortage of ration especially rice, sugar and flour in Govt/ private depots all across the State.
Sharma also said that there is no sugar supply from last several months and nowadays there is total shortage of rice and flour (Atta) too, as most of the depots have no supply of ration and some are providing ration below 35 kgs which is against the preset guidelines of the Government.
Congress leader also said that the people of Akhnoor constituency are experiencing acute shortage of drinking water because of erratic supply of water. He said that summer season has not yet set in, this problem will further increase in coming days. He asked concerned authorities to address this problem on top priority so that this problem doesn’t aggravate further.
Sham expressed his concern over the recent statements made by various political leaders during their recent political rallies. He said such statements for seeking votes will not only be detrimental for the secular fabric of the State but will create a great void between the people of two regions.
