JAMMU, Feb 26: “BJP-led Government at Centre and State has miserably failed to ensure peace at International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC). The Government has also failed to provide succor to the people living in these areas who are frequently migrated during unprovoked firing and infiltration attempts from across the border”, said senior Congress leader MK Bhardwaj.
Addressing a public meeting at Arnia, Bhardwaj said that demonetization has affected people especially farmers, under privileged, middle class, youth and women with severe financial crisis.
He lambasted the Centre and the State Governments for making false promises with the people of bordering Arnia and adjoining areas as no help has been provided to them during unprovoked firing by Pakistan.
“BJP-PDP Government should immediately bring border areas of Bishnah-Arnia belt under the ambit of BAR scheme under which people suffering due to Pak-firing are provided relief. It is ironic that this area has been left out of the scheme”, he said and warned to launch agitation if Government failed to issue instructions in this regard.
He also demanded plots at safer places for border residents, construction of community bunkers to prevent casualties, proper education, medical facilities, compensation and jobs to the victims of the border firing.
He also demanded compensation to the farmers whose crops have been damaged in the past, expedite process of issuance of the Permanent Resident Certificates to the people of Bishnah and Arnia, regular power supply to the pumpsets installed in the border areas, extension of Ranbir canal should till the tale-end areas, resolve the power and road connectivity issues in these areas.
While speaking, senior Congress leader and former Minister Dr Manohar Lal said the Congress is fully committed for the welfare of the people and particularly those residing on the hostile border areas. He said that the State Government has failed on all fronts to serve the people.
Ashok Dubey, Ashwani Puri, Organising Secretary PCC, Ex-AE Avinash Sharma, Captain Dharam Singh, Kewal Saini, Ex-Chairman Charan Das Bhagat, Ex-Principal Sohan Lal Thapa, Kala Saini, Bishan Das Bhagat, besides many others were present on the occasion.
