Govt expeditiously processing compensation cases of PoJK refugees: Div Com

KATHUA, Oct 25: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr M K Bhandari today said that Government is expeditiously processing the refugees’ cases for compensation.
Talking to PoJK refugees delegations during his visit to Kathua today to take the stock of various developmental schemes there he assured them that he will seek the details from the officers so that the cases are settled as early as possible.
The Divisional Commissioner informed the delegation that 6000 files of compensation are on final stage and the data feeding process is also near completion to be dispatched to Central Government for payment purposes.

He said there is no dearth of funds in this regard from Government of India and the refugees who have some problems like missing of ration  cards or delay on account of transfer of papers for allotted land etc will also be looked into so that the compensation process does not get delayed.
He issued instructions to the district revenue authorities including ADC Kathua to expedite the process in this regard and ensure that there is no delay in submission and forwarding of cases.
Expressing concern over delay in disbursement of compensation to PoJK refugees granted by Government of India,  the refugee of Chhamb, 1965 and 1971  wars alleged that the State Government is making deliberately delay in release of compensation . The Jatt Maha Sabha tehsil president, Sat Pal Choudhary said that there are 438 families of Chhamb refugee of 1965 and 1971 who have applied for compensation in Kathua district . But despite the completion of all formalities, the process of transfer of compensation of Rs 5.50 lakh has not so far started and refugees are visiting from one office to another, one table to another table for justice.
Another beneficiary Capt.(Retd) Darshan Lal alleged that the displaced persons are harassed on the name of completion of documents. Most of POJK refugees spend hundreds of rupees to complete their formalities and files, but the Department is unnecessarily creating hurdles. He wanted to know why the compensation was not released in favour of those refugees who have completed all formalities?. The double entry data feeding errors are made by the Department and refugees are being unnecessarily harassed, he added.
Earlier, Divisional Commissioner while talking to reporters gave details about the developmental projects under progress in Kathua district.
Divisional Commissioner also visited construction sites of major development projects including Medical & Engineering College, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Keeriyan Gandyal bridge, work of which is being executed by different agencies. He also reviewed progress achieved under ongoing summary revision and CAPEX budget of the district.
At the outset Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the ongoing major development works under Education, Health, R&B, JKPCC, PHE, PDD and Municipality sectors. He called upon the executing agencies to   speed up the work of major development projects and remove any bottlenecks for ensuring time bound completion of these projects.
He directed the concerned departments to work in synergy and ensure regular monitoring of the projects besides adhering to quality norms. He also called for having inter-department coordination which is vital for expediting the pace of development works.
The other projects   discussed in the meeting included construction of residential quarters at Nagri Toll Plaza, Sub Centre Karanwada, building of HSS Bani, outsourcing of TRC Bani and Construction of auditorium hall at GD College Kathua.
