Govt determined to provide better healthcare facilities to people: Asiea

SRINAGAR: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, today visited Lal Ded (LD) and Bone & Joint hospitals to assess the facilities being provided to the patients in these hospitals.

Medical Superintendents, Engineers of R&B, SMC officials and other concerned officials accompanied the Minister during the visit.

The Minister first visited the LD Hospital where she went around the hospital premises to inspect the patient-care facilities and the condition of sanitation in and around the hospital. The concerned Medical Superintendent while briefing the Minister said that the hospital administration engaged men & machinery on round-the-clock basis for better sanitation.

Besides directing for deployment of more men for sanitation, she also directed the M S to put extra men for adequate security in and outside the hospital.

On the occasion, the R&B officials informed the Minister that work on the L D Sarai (Shelter Home for Attendants) being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 7.16 crore is currently under execution. She was further informed that the building has 60 rooms and will fulfill a long-pending demand of attendants for shelter.

Asiea also inspected the ongoing construction work of the spill-out drain being constructed by the UEED.

Later, the Minister visited the Bone & Joint Hospital at Barzulla, where she directed the concerned to put extra efforts for proper sanitation in the hospital premises. The Minister directed the SMC officials to clear all the blocked drains immediately and to repair defunct lights within the hospital premises.

Asiea also interacted with the patients at both the hospitals and inquired about the facilities being provided to them by the hospital authorities. She assured the patients and attendants of all help, saying that the Government is determined to provide improved healthcare facilities. The Minister impressed upon the hospital administrations and doctors to work with dedication to serve the patients in a professional manner.
