Govt concerned for welfare of disabled persons: Balbir

JAMMU, Apr 13: Chairman of All J&K Disabled Welfare Association, Sushil Kumar Sharma, along with State Chairperson of Jeevan Sandesh Trust, Rajni Sharma, called on Vice Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation Limited, Balbir Ram Rattan, at Jammu and briefed him about the objective of their individual organizations besides seeking details related to the welfare schemes of this Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) meant for the benefit of the people with physical disabilities.
While interacting with the VC, they narrated the problems being faced by the disabled persons and also explained the working of their organizations. They told the VC that the society still treats these people differently and such approach need to be changed. Even then they have registered success in many fields and proved that they are second to none.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while appreciating their mission of serving the most desirable people, said that the Government at the Centre as well as in the State is very much concerned for the betterment of the people with physical disabilities. “Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation is one of the channelizing agency of the Union Government, which provides financial assistance to the reserved categories, including physically disabled persons”, Balbir told them adding that the State Government too contributes for giving such help.
Balbir further told them that the Corporation has its office in every district and anyone wishing to apply for the loan can contact the Corporation office in his or her own district instead of travelling to the capital cities.
