Govt committed to provide every facility at doorsteps of people: Sunil

Kishtwar, June 23: Minister of State for Transport, Revenue, Public Works Department (R&B), Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture Production and Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Sharma today reiterated that  transport authorities need to ensure prompt service delivery mechanism and create people friendly environment in the offices besides putting in place an effective monitoring mechanism to prevent accidents besides focusing on generating mass awareness among stakeholders regarding various road safety measures.
The Minister said this while flagging-off bus service facility to village Pochhal, which was earlier restricted to Jammu from Kishtwar. Now it will also cover 5 Km distance from Kishtwar to Pochhal. With this service the residents of villages of Hatta, Matta, Kulid and Dera Dhata will get transport facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that   requisite steps to improve the functioning and bringing accountability and transparency in the Transport Department will be considered by the Government.
Later in the day, Minister also held review meeting of Social Welfare Department. On this occasion District Social Welfare Department Officer Phulail Singh, Chief Planning Officer, Yasir Balwan, Planning Officer, ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister said that there is need to provide economic security and quality education to the girls of the district so that they become the partners of development.
On this occasion, the Minister also distributed eight scooties among physically handicapped persons.  The beneficiaries include Ashraf S/o Gh. Mohd. Malik R/o Chatroo, Salma Banoo D/o Noor Mohd R/o Bandema, Mohd Arif Giri S/o Mohd Abass Giri R/o Pochhal, Taseen Hussain S/o Mohd Shaban R/o Astan Bala, Jaffer Hussain S/o Ab Jabbar R/o Hullar, Usman Asgar S/o Asgar Hussain R/o Semna, Kulbeer Singh S/o Prem Nath R/o Kuntwara, Meenakshi D/o Satish Kumar R/o Berabatta.
Sharma said that Government is fully aware about the problems and burning issues of the people in the area and steps are being taken to mitigate them in shortest possible time. He said far reaching reforms are being introduced in all the departments to improve service delivery expedite development projects. He said that the field functionaries of all the line departments have been directed to work with transparency, accountability and honesty for the benefit and welfare of poor masses.
He said that those officers/ officials who were found indulging in corruption would be dismissed from services and prosecuted under law. He also revealed that for getting the benefits of widow and old age pension scheme of Social Welfare Department the formalities have been decreased and now there is no need of any Medical Certificate and other documents.
The Minister also laid foundation stone of parking place to be completed at the cost of Rs 19.09 lakh at PWD Quarters near ITI Kishtwar.
Later while addressing the public Mr Sharma said that every region of the district will be connected with the road network as sufficient funds under Central Reserve fund have been allocated and it will be ensured that every project is completed under the timelines fixed.
