Govt committed to promote Gojri culture, language: Kohli

RAJOURI, Mar 11: Reaff-irming Government’s resolve to promote and preserve Gojri culture and language, Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Ghani Kohli today said that several initiatives have been taken in this regard that will provide budding writers, poets and artists an opportunity to contribute towards development of this ancient language.
The Minister was speaking at one day Gojri Literary and Cultural conference organized by Gojri Anjuman-e-Adab here today.
Kohli said the Government is committed to provide equal opportunities for promotion of every language spoken in the State and urged participants to play their part in the process by way of giving feedback, suggestions to achieve this goal.
Appreciating efforts of the organization for organizing this event, the Minister said that such gatherings provide a platform to writers and poets to discuss and recommend measure that can be taken for promotion of this ancient language.
The Minister also announced a sum of rupees fifty thousand as financial aid to the organization. He asked writers and poets to make consolidated efforts in sensitizing Gujjar and Bakerwal communities about welfare schemes and other programmes started by Government at various levels.
