KATHUA, July 9: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) today said that BJP leaders and their Government at Centre as well as in the State are befooling the people by saying “One Nation One Tax” but in actual there are so many rates of tax in the country like 0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28% and then toll taxes on highways and extra taxes on petroleum products and liquor.
While addressing the Youth Congress and the Congress workers at his residence in village Lakhri Tehsil Ramkot in Kathua District, Basotra said with the implementation of GST in the State by way of passing of resolution, the real face of the BJP has come out, which has fixed its permanent and final seal to strengthen the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution on the birthday of the founder of the Praja Parishad and Jan Sangh, Dr Shyama Parsad Mukherji.
The JKPYC leader said BJP leaders are befooling the people on GST by saying ‘One Nation One Tax’ He said that in other countries where GST has been implemented the rate of taxes are single and most of the countries having no tax on unstitched cloths and eatable items but the Indian Government has imposed the tax on the unstitched cloths which is mostly used by the poor people who are unable to purchased the readymade and branded garments.
Basotra alleged that the Government is himself confused over the implementation of the GST as most of the officials of the Government responsible to implement the law, has no knowledge of the GST and have failed to guide the business community properly on GST.
He also urged the State Government to abolish the Toll posts and other taxes before the full implementation of the GST in the State to avoid any doubts in the minds of the business community.
