Governor seeks monthly progress report from Director Vigilance

SRINAGAR, July 11: S. J. M Gillani, Director Vigilance, met Governor N.N. Vohra, at the Civil Secretariat today.
Gillani apprised Governor about the present status of the work being done by the State Vigilance Organization; the pendency of cases; reasons for delay in the finalization of enquiries and the lodging of challans; prolonged delays for conclusion of proceedings in the Trial Courts; inadequacy of staff in the Prosecution Offices of the recently created Anti Corruption Courts etc.
Governor advised Gillani to prioritise the finalisation of pending enquiries and launch a vigorous campaign for the offenders to be brought to book, the cases of higher level functionaries being taken up among the first lot. Governor   asked Director Vigilance to send him a monthly progress report.
A.G Mir, ADGP CID also met Governor and briefed him about the work being done by his Directorate and about certain arising developments in the State.
Mohd. Shafi Pandit, former Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission (PSC) also called on Governor and informed him about the results so far achieved and the activities being presently undertaken to provide coaching to students who are preparing for the Civil Services Examination and for admission to IITs, particularly those belonging to the minority communities.
Governor urged Pandit, to vigorously continue his endeavours for promoting the prospects of youth, on all fronts.
Er. Rasheed, MLA Langate and also called on Governor and apprised him about the development related challenges in his Constituency and the adjoining areas and the benefit of larger attention being devoted to accelerating programmes for enhancing connectivity and priority being given to upgrading health and educational facilities in the rural areas.
Governor appreciated Rasheed’s endeavours and urged him to particularly focus on promoting the interests of youth and ensuring against their exploitation in any manner whatsoever.
