Governor reviews arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU, Apr 17: At a review meeting chaired by N.N. Vohra, Governor, who is the Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), various issues concerning the logistic and other related arrangements in the context of ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra were discussed.
Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to Governor, and CEO, SASB; Preet Pal Singh, Additional CEO, SASB, R.K. Pandita, General Manager (Works), SASB and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The CEO briefed the meeting about the to-date position of various ongoing arrangements for the Yatra including the registration of Yatris; provision of heli-services in the Yatra area; grant of Tent and Shop permissions, registration of dandiwallas, pony-wallas and palkiwallas; registration of ponies; arrangements for cleaning of camps, track cleaning, garbage collection and disposal; provision of insurance covers to registered Yatris, Service Providers and ponies; grant of permissions to NGOs to set up langars in the Yatra area; appointment and deployment of Camp Directors; provision of telecom services in the Yatra  etc.
The Governor stressed the need for ensuring time bound action on all fronts to ensure the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra. He directed the CEO to visit Chandanwari and Baltal to assess the status of the snowmelt and the date by which preparatory works could be taken up and executed for the forthcoming Yatra. He also directed the CEO to discuss all Yatra issues with the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal Districts, CEOs of the Pahalgam and Sonamarg Development Authorities, Director General, Indian Meteorological Department, Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, Border Roads Organization, and all other related agencies.
Rakesh Kumar Gupta, CEO of the Shrine Board, stated that regular review meetings will be held in the next two months with all concerned officials and organizations to ensure the timely completion of all required arrangements for the Yatra.
