Governor inaugurates PET CT Scan facility at Superspeciality Hospital Kakryal

JAMMU, Apr 25: To mark the completion of two years of functioning of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, a PET CT facility was launched at this hospital today.

Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, inagurated the PET CT Scan facility at this tertiary care hospital in the presence of Dr. Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Narayana Health; Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Member Shrine Board; B. B. Vyas, Board Member and Chairman of Governing Body of the Hospital; and Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to the Governor and CEO of the Shrine Board.
The Governor and Dr. Shetty viewed the PET CT facility and interacted with the doctors about its functioning.
The PET CT facility, not presently available in the Jammu region, will immensely help in the detection of cancer and other serious ailments.  The introduction of this facility will enable the delivery of the entire range of cancer related services at the Narayana Super Speciality Hospital and provide affordable health care in the Jammu region.
Meanwhile, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, organised a function to celebrate its 2nd Anniversary today.
Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Narayana Health, was the Guest of Honour at this function, which was held at the Matrika Auditorium of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
Governor N. N. Vohra spoke about the growth story of the Superspeciality Hospital since 2008, when he became responsible for the management of the Shrine Board. He observed that the hospital has done quite well during this period and is envisaged  to do much better during 2018-19.
Governor thanked Dr. Shetty and Narayana Health for their valuable contribution to running this Superspeciality Hospital and complimented Members of the Shrine Board, and all other stakeholders, for their support and guidance in the setting up and functioning of the Hospital.
Governor and Dr. Shetty felicitated three eminent doctors of the State with Life Time Achievement Awards for their outstanding and distinguished services in the field of Medicine. Those honoured were Dr. N. S. Pathania, former Principal Government Medical College Jammu and Director General of Health Services and Medical Education; Dr. Girija Dhar, renowned  Gynaecologists and former Principal of Government Medical College Srinagar; and Dr. Smanla T. Phuntsog, Post Graduate in Ophthalmology and qualified Physician in the Tibetan System of Medicine. Dr. Pathania’s Award was received by hisdaughter-in law, Rekha Pathania.
The function was attended by Dr. S. S. Bloeria, H. L. Maini, Justice (Retd) Permod Kohli and B. B. Vyas, Board Members; Umang Narula, Principal Secretary to the Governor and CEO of the Shrine Board; Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO, Members of the Governing Body and Finance and Audit Committee of the Hospital
Cdr. Navneet Bali, Director Northern Region, Narayana Health gave welcome address while Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of the Hospital presented a Vote of Thanks.
