Governor for enlarging facilities to meet emerging requirements of pilgrimage

KATRA, Aug 30:  Performing of Pooja, Havan, Yagya and organising several other events marked the celebration of 30th Foundation Day of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board today.
These functions were organised at Bhawan, Adhkuwari, Katra, Vaishnavi Dham, Jammu and other locations in which the staff of the Shrine Board and a large number of pilgrims participated.
At the culmination of these functions, Prasad was distributed among the pilgrims by the senior most officers of the respective areas and units of the Shrine Board. Employees of the Shrine Board took pledge on this occasion to perform their duties with sincerity and devotion.
N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, in his message on the auspicious occasion of the Foundation Day, congratulated  the staff of the Shrine Board and impressed upon them to work with zeal and dedication for providing increasingly improved facilities to the pilgrims visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. He added that efforts need to be further intensified for ensuring completion of all the ongoing development works of the Shrine Board within their envisaged time frame of completion.
At Katra, the main function was held at Niharika Complex where special Pooja and Havan were performed. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, other senior officers and staff, besides the pilgrims participated. Among those who also participated in the function included Prof. P. N. Shastry, Vice Chancellor, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Deemed University, New Delhi, and Prof. Y. K. Mishra. It was followed by distribution of Prasad.
On this occasion, Mr. Sahu informed that the Shrine Board has done an excellent job in managing the Yatra and the creation of various logistics for pilgrims in the last 30 years. He further informed that on the directions of the Chairman of the Shrine Board number of major works are underway for further infrastructure improvements focusing the emerging requirements.
It is pertinent to mention that the Shrine Board, besides the efficient management of Yatra, has also started a number of projects as part of its social responsibility. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University at Kakryal, Katra is providing world class educational facilities in this remote area. He also referred to the upcoming Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence at Kakryal which is scheduled to be commissioned later this year. Apart from this important projects such as construction of Multipurpose Sports Stadium, construction of Ropeway and many other works for the welfare of pilgrims and locals have been taken up by the Shrine Board.
Other major projects which are being executed by the Shrine Board to facilitate the pilgrims include widening and improvement of the track, Slope Stabilisation Project along the Track for checking landslides and shooting stones, construction of Queue Complex at Adhkuwari, installation of multi-utility hi-tech audio system from Darshani Deodi to Bhawan, renovation and construction of toilet complexes, etc.
