Governor for establishment of smart classes in far off areas schools

JAMMU, Feb 23: Governor N.N. Vohra visited Sri Ranbir Multi Lateral Model (SRML) Higher Secondary School here today and inaugurated the school’s Herbal Garden.
Governor lauded the valued contributions made by the truly historical over a well century old SRML Model School for promoting education in the State. It was established in 1872 by Maharaja Ranbir Singh.
Accompanied by Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Education Minister, Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Education, Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary, School Education, Shafqat Chib, Principal of the School, the Governor took a round of the school. He visited two Smart Classes and interacted with the students of class XI. He also had a tele-conference discussion with a Girls School in Beerwah and a Government School in Samba.
Governor stressed the importance of smart classes being set up in schools situated in far off areas like Gurez and Tangdhar.
In a brief address at the end of his visit Governor observed that education is of vital importance and good school education lays a strong foundation for the establishment of a sound, wholesome and productive society. He stressed the importance of students being imbued with ethical and moral values and also gaining skills which would help them in gaining employment after finishing school.
The Governor urged Altaf Bukhari to explore the possibility of inviting the civil society in the planning, development, financing and functioning of schools both in urban and rural areas.
Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Education, Priya Sethi, MoS, Education, Jugal Kishore Sharma, MP Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency and Rajesh Gupta, MLA Jammu East also addressed the gathering.
Babila Rakwal, Director School Education, Jammu presented the vote of thanks.
