Goons grab 8 kanals of temple land in Srinagar: SSDPS

JAMMU, Oct 19: Shri Sanatan Dharam Partap Sabha, (SSDPS), Srinagar, Kashmir today demanded immediate restoration of eight kanals of land belonging to Sabha at Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar which were encroached by some miscreants during the intervening night of October 12 and 13.
Talking to reporters here, today the general secretary of the Sabha Sompaul Aggarwal said that 8 kanals of land out of 16 kanals belonging to Sabha in its temple premises at Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar was encroached by Nassirullah Khan, son of Mohammed Sadiq Khan of Hamdania Colony, Srinagar on intervening night of October 12 and 13 after he along with 70 musclemen entered into the temple premises with iron rods and lathis and forcefully covered the land of the Sabha by erecting iron sheets and removing the board of the SDS by installing another board reading private land at that place.
Mr Aggarwal said that these goons also threatened the Sabha members who were present in the temple at that time. The minorities in the Valley and members of the Sabha feel scared since then and they have also lost all faith and confidence in the Government, he added.
He said the Government should restore the land to the Sabha immediately, arrest the culprits so that the confidence of minorities is also restored in the Government.
He said the Sabha brought the matter in the notice of IGP, Kashmir, DC and SSP Srinagar and sought their immediate intervention in the matter. Besides a FIR was also registered in Shergadi Police Station, Srinagar but till date no action has been taken by the Government in this regard, he added.
Jagdish Dogra president SDS, Jammu, I H Kohli treasurer SSDPS, Srinagar and its other members Vinod Kumar Bali and Om Parkash Sharma were also present in the press conference.
