GOC kick-starts Rajouri Day celebrations

JAMMU, Apr 12:  The Rajouri Day festivities were kick started by GOC, Ace of Spades Division by inaugurating plethora of events at ALG Rajouri today.
The events  including- photo exhibitions, ex-servicemen assistance booths and inclusion of year of disabled events.
The day is celebrated on April 13 every year as it was on this day that Rajouri was liberated from the rebel intruders who had infiltrated from across the border. This year again, the White Knight Corps celebrated this historic spectacle with characteristic gaiety and fervour.
The proceedings to commemorate Year of Disabled Soldiers of Indian Army were inaugurated by GOC, Ace of Spades Division at Rajouri which coincided with inauguration of two days Rajouri Day celebrations.
The year long festivities were also inaugurated today with a formal discussion of the invited disabled soldiers with the officials of both military and civil administration with an aim to examine and resolve their grievances. A plethora of assistance booths were also set up by record offices, recruitment office, Education Department, Medical & Veterinary Department and various civil agencies dealing with PAN Card, AADHAR Card and National Banks. The disabled soldiers were also felicitated with mementoes and gifts by the chief guest.
Year 2018 is being celebrated as the ‘Year of Disabled Soldiers of Indian Army’ specifically aimed at solving problems being faced by the soldiers who have done their share of duty to the motherland and in the bargain have been maimed for life. Accordingly, this year, the celebrations of martyrdom, peace and harmony were given a supplementary flavour of commemorating our disabled war veterans under the theme ”Disabled Soldiers – Legacy of Service & Life of Dignity”.
