Global warming

Sir,
A report released by the United Nations recently draws our attention to impending crisis because of Global Warming that we are witnessing. The report suggests that far reaching and rapid changes are required to be taken to limit the untoward effect of Global warming. To put it in simple words, more the temperature rises more the wild fires. This will lead to more drought and floods. Our country is particularly vulnerable given the geographical diversity of this country. The Global Warming if left unchecked is expected to render large parts of northern India uninhabitable by the turn of this century. There is a general opinion in the scientific world that the average temperaure should not be allowed to rise by 1.5 degree celsius.
Generally speaking, the temperatures stayed moderate prior to industrial Revolution and the rise since then has been catastrophic.
And action is required to be taken now. It should be swift and decisive and based on scientific knowledge gathered over a period of time.
India is fortunate if it is able to fulfill its obligations to the Paris Agreement that it signed in 2016. The commitment of Indian polity will go a long way in ensuring that our future generation will inherit an earth which is not only habitable but fulfilling in all respects. Will our leaders rise to the occasion and acknowledge the scale of the danger that presently scientists insists for ?
