Give reservation to people living along IB: Manjit

VIJAYPUR, Dec 31: Former Minister and PCC general secretary Manjit Singh today demanded reservation for the residents of International Border from Akhnoor to Kathua.
Former Minister made this demand in front of a public gathering on the International Border at village Nanga where people put forth their issues.
“PDP-BJP Government taking the issues of border residents lightly and nothing has been done for the poor people and farmers whose land has come on zero line,” said Manjit Singh.
He said that the people on Line of Control (LoC) enjoying reservation rights while the International Border people are forced to face troubles. “The Government must give reservation to the International Border residents so that their children can get employment, admission in professional institutions, and other sectors so that their economic upliftment,” he added.
Singh further demanded compensation for the land ahead of fencing and Government should give them compensation for the land. He also demanded special recruitment drive for the border areas because many a times schools remain closed along the border during hostility.
He also alleged that PDP-BJP has discriminated Jammu in a well planned manner due to which they prior closed the schools and then, reduced the teaching faculty. “The recruitment of teachers has also declined to a drastic level,” he said.
He alleged that the Modi Government’s foreign policy has also failed because it has failed to yield any result and the borders continue to boil leaving the lives of innocent civilians and soldiers on edge. He condemned the Coalition Government in the State for discriminating with Jammu.
