VIJAYPUR, Dec 15: Former minister and District president, Samba, Manjit Singh today appealed the Governor Satya Paul Malik to give ownership rights to local allottees and refugees staying on Custodian properties for the last over seven decades.
He was speaking at village Nanga in Ramgarh along the international border where people are living a miserable life. Singh said two or three generations have spent their lives on the property, they don’t have right on. Those who have gone and settled in Pakistan will never return. And, the status of property under local allottee and refugees should be changed and they should be given property right in their possession, Manjit said.
Singh further said that a large number of families have been suffering due to no property rights on the land. “Governor Satya Paul Malik can take a lead and convert the property rights in favour of local allottee/ refugees,” said Manjit Singh.
These local allottees and refugees also highlighted problems being faced by them in their area and the unemployment among the youth. “The Government should send a delegation on ground zero to take assessment and meet the families so that proper report is filed on the condition of their lives, standard of education and health issues,” Manjit said.
There is a need to give reservation to the residents of international border so that their children can also compete in education and get Government jobs. “These children suffer when Pakistan opens fire across the border and target their houses. These people have to flee for weeks abandoning their houses for safety. Hence, their education also suffers more,” he said.
