Girl jumps into Tawi, rescued

JAMMU, Jan 27: A girl today attempted suicide allegedly by jumping into River Tawi in this winter capital of the State.
“A 23-year-old girl namely Nazia Hussain, daughter of Noor Hussain this afternoon jumped into River Tawi from the main Tawi bridge and fell into the shallow waters,” police sources here said.
They said the flying squad of police post Nehru Market deployed at Vikram Chowk immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. “In unconscious condition, the girl was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu”, they said, adding, her condition was stated to be stable.
Nowabad police had taken cognizance of the matter and started investigations.
