UDHAMPUR, Oct 5: A teen-aged girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree near her house in village Karcha Dandota in Pancheri tehsil, here today.
The deceased was identified as Sushma Devi (18), daughter of Churd Singh. She was found hanging from a tree this morning under mysterious circumstances.
Some locals spotted the hanging girl and immediately called the Police, which rushed to the spot and took the dead body in its custody.
Later, the body was shifted to PHC for postmortem while Police registered a case under Section 174 for further investigation into the matter.
As per family members of the deceased, there was no apparent cause of resorting to the extreme step.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, a middle aged shopkeeper was found dead in a deep gorge at village Badola in Rehambal area
The deceased was identified as Mohan Lal (45), son of Dina Nath of Kembal Danga. Rehambal Police shifted the body to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem and registered a case in this connection under Section 174 RPC.
