GHSS Kootah wins Kho-Kho, Kabaddi titles

KATHUA, Aug 18: The girls of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kootah won the Under-19 Kho-Kho and Kabaddi titles in the Zone Level Inter-School tournament for Under-19 boys and girls in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wrestling, Football and Athletics at Sports Stadium, Hiranagar, here.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Subash Chander Bhardwaj and under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Hiranagar, Yog Raj Sharma.
A total of 121 players of 8 schools of the zone participated on first day of tournament.
In Kho-Kho girls U-19 years, Government HSS Kootah defeated Government HSS Hiranagar by 3 points in the summit clash, while in Kabaddi girls U-19 years, Government HSS Kootah drubbed Government HSS Hiranagar by 4 points in the title clash.
In Kabaddi boys U-19 years, Unique Model HSS Chadwal trounced GHSS Chakra by 14 points in the final.
Earlier, Unique Model HSS Chadwal outplayed GHSS Marheen in first semifinal by 12 points and GHSS Chakra got the better of GHSS Kootah in second semifinal by 6 points.
In Volleyball boys Under-19 years, Government HSS Hiranagar thrashed Infant Jesus HSS Hiranagar by 2-1 sets.
Earlier, GHSS Hiranagar outplayed GHSS Marheen by 2-0 sets and Infant
Jesus HSS Hiranagar drubbed GHSS Chakra by 2-1 sets in the first and second semifinals respectively.
Meanwhile, in Wrestling, Sahil Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School Hiranagar, Arun Kumar of Government Higher Secondary School Marheen, Gulshan Kumar of Government Higher Secondary School Kootah, Vishal Sharma of Saint Paul’s Convent Higher Secondary School Haripur secured first positions in below 40, 55, 60 and 70 kg weight categories respectively.
