GGM Science College enters into finals, SPMR Commerce into semi-finals

JAMMU, Oct 27: SPMR Commerce College and GGM Science College today defeated their opponents and advanced to next stages, in Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament for men, being organized at lower ground of University of Jammu.
In the first match of the Day, SPMR College and GDC RS Pura locked horns. The match was won by SPMR College by 89 runs.
Batting first, SPMR College scored 198 runs by losing 3 wickets in 20 overs. Suryansh was the top scorer who remained unbeaten on 150 runs in just 77 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 14 boundaries. Subrat and Avesh also made 18 and 11 runs, respectively. For GDC RS Pura, Banwarjit took two wickets while Sagar scalped one wicket.
In reply, GDC RS Pura failed to chase the target and managed to score only 109 runs in stipulated 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Thus, SPMR College won the match by a margin of 89 runs and entered into semi-finals. Sahil, Snehal, Janmeet and Gurjeet made 26, 23, 19 and 11 runs, respectively.  For SPMR College, Ajay was the pick of the bowler who scalped 4 important wickets. Sahil and Rahat also took 2 and 1 wickets, respectively.
In the second match of the day, GGM Science College defeated YCET to enter into finals of the tournament.
Batting first after losing toss, GGM Science College made 139 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Vikram made highest 35 runs for the team while Mukul, Manik and Sant Baksh contributed 25, 29 and 16 runs, respectively. For YCET, Usman picked up 2 wickets while Sagar, Fazal, Harjeet and Waqar scalped one wicket each.
In reply, YCET could score only 107 runs in 20 overs and thus, lost the match to GGM Science College. In this way, GGM Science College entered into finals of the tournament. For YCET, Aaqib and Sachin made 25 runs each for the team while Harjinder and Majid scored 13 runs each. For GGM Science College, Hitesh scalped 2 wickets while Ankush, Vikram, Sant Baksh and Pawan picked up one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Kumar, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Raman Kumar and Mohan Lal as umpires, while Vinod acted as scorer.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
