Generate awareness on schemes designed for rural people: Pole

UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, P.K.Pole, has asked departments to put up stalls during ensuing annual Shivratri Mela at Khoon, highlighting the policies and programmes initiated by the Government in various sectors for the benefit of people.
In a circular, Mr Pole has emphasized the need for making available necessary literature and broachers’ for generating awareness among the masses, adding that such occasions provide opportunity to reach out to large segments of the society.
The annual Maha Shivratri-cum- Gramin Mela is scheduled to be held on March 10, 2013 at Khoneshwar Aap Shambhu Shiv temple, Khoon.
Specific instructions have been issued to Health, Industries, Social Welfare, Youth Services & Sports, Agriculture, Horticulture, Employment, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Handloom, Handicraft, Sericulture, Rural Development Departments to ensure all necessary arrangements well in time so that objective of the Mela is achieved. He said that awareness among rural population is necessary so that they derive benefits from the schemes designed for their economic emancipation.
Being organized by Mela Committee and Destitute And Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) in conjunction with District Administration every year for the past over 9 years, the event has proved to be of immense help for the people of this rural and hilly area who are now getting benefit of various Government schemes.
