General store owner held with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Dec 19: Nagrota police arrested a general store owner for selling liquor on dry day as announced by the Election authorities and recovered large quantity of illicit liquor from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information about sale of liquor on dry day by a general store owner, police team from Nagrota police station conducted a raid in a general store shop at Kameeni Market.
During search police recovered 14 bottles and 10 pouches of illicit liquor from the shop and arrested the shopkeeper, who has been identified as Mast Ali, son of Milkhi Shah, a resident of Kameeni Nallah, Nagrota.
The shopkeeper was selling the liquor among the common masses to gain illegitimate gains on dry day today as announced by the Election authorities in the wake of the Assembly election tomorrow in Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri districts.
A case under FIR number 330/14 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at police station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota police station Vinod Kumar Kundal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Khaliq Choudhary, SP Rural Rajeev Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
