General Category Forum resents attempts of pro-reservation MLAs

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 17: General category people have flayed  Dy Speaker Nazir Gurezi , Ch Zulfkar Ali and other MLAs for allegedly pressurizing Government to undertake contempt of Supreme Court and High Court on the issue of no reservation in promotions.
An emergency meeting of  the Joint Action Committee (J&K) and Jammu Kashmir General Category Welfare Forum  was today held at Brahman Sabha Jammu to discuss the latest development, particularly with regard to  yesterday’s episode in the House where the Dy  Speaker  Nazir Gurezi , Minister Ch. Zulfkar Ali and other MLAs called on the Chief Minister and sought issuance of fresh direction to the Departments on the issue of No Reservation in Promotions .
”This is an utter bullying and sheer misconstrued design of the elected representatives who have conspired to demean the rule of law and are forcing  Government to go in  for contempt of court orders on the subject,” the meet opined.
Ved Prakash Sharma, convenor and president of the Brahman Sabha,  alleged that pro-reservation MLAs have breached  oath of the Constitution,  taken by them while assuming the charge. “They have built an unholy consortium on the basis of caste to seek murder of merit and seniority,” he alleged..
Speaking on the occasion,    Narayan Singh,  president of the Rajput Sabha also expressed serious concern and displeasure over the conduct of these MLAs who have been voted to power by all,  irrespective of caste, colour and creed and now their approach has become partisan as is evident from the fact that they are trying to bring amendments to overrule the justice delivered by judicial system after thorough scrutiny of rules/ merits of case in vogue.
The Joint Action Committee appealed the  General category people to ask questions to their respective MLAs and seek answers from them on this issue, making them aware that the general category voters must not be taken for granted. The JAC also cautioned the political class to refrain from dividing the society on the basis of caste and suggested that keeping in view of J&K’s special status, reforms on extending reservations on economic basis should be introduced here  so that the State may serve  as an example for model of inclusive development “ Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas” for the whole nation.
