Gender sensitization workshop organised

SAMBA, Feb 7: A programme on gender sensitization under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign was organised today for Executive Magistrates, officers from police and civil administration.
Deputy Commissioner  Sheetal Nanda, SSP Joginder Singh, PO ICDS Tanveer Iqbal, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma, Addl SP Raja Adil Hamid and other officers from civil and police administration were present on the occasion.
Senior Prosecuting Officer Kuldeep Bhat and Tehsildar HQ Neha Bakshi presented various women specific legal and constitutional rights and legal aids available for them. The speakers also highlighted landmark decisions of Supreme Court that have reasserted the rights of women and given them protection
Speaking on the occasion, DC Samba informed that in order to address the grievances of women employees at workplace various Internal Complaint Committees headed by female officers have been constituted at District and Sub Division level where they can register their complaints.
She called for changing attitude towards women with society being sensitive to the problems faced by them. She asked Executive Magistrates and police officers to take cognizance of any crime/incident against women and take immediate action. She said that ‘compromise formula’ between victim and perpetrator must be avoided and guilty must be brought to justice.
SSP Samba informed that a women Investigation Cell has been established at Police Station Samba which is headed by a lady officer.
