GEASSOC holds general body meeting-cum-convention

JAMMU, Aug 26: All Jammu and Kashmir Graduate Engineers Association Civil (GEASSOC) today held its general body meeting-cum-convention under the chairmanship of its State President Er Mujib Tak wherein all the members from chief engineer to junior engineer levels participated.
The issues and challenges being faced by the engineering fraternity were discussed and the measures to be adopted for their redressal were deliberated upon.
The senior members of association shared their experiences and enlightened the juniors about the way forward. The new entrants of association exhibited lot of enthusiasm and highlighted the issues pertaining to their cadre. The focus of the convention as evident from the various speakers was on three major issues facing the engineering fraternity viz. regularization/confirmation of services of engineers at all levels including review of engineering cadre, release of running grades in favour of engineers at par with other professionals of the State and all promotions to be made strictly as per laid down rules duly upheld by J&K High Court viz  20 per cent quota for diploma holders only on available posts at the time of promotions.
Chief Engineers Er HC Jerath, Er PN Bali, Er BL Dhar, Er Ashok Gandtora, Er Kishore Gupta and Superintending Engineers Er Ajay Anand, Er KK Mangotra and Er ND Khawaja fully endorsed the views expressed in the convention.
Er Mujib Tak while highlighting the past achievements of the association was also very particular to point out that the association cannot rest on its laurels and be complacent in future. He further resolved alongwith all present engineers to intensify the ongoing struggle until the genuine demands of the engineering cadre are fulfilled. He also assured that promotions made in R&B Department on the basis of fake degrees will be got cancelled.
He further warned the Government of not to take the engineering fraternity lightly and declared that the engineers are now ready to fight for their just cause for which they will not even refrain from coming on to the roads.
Among those who spoke were Er BL Rawal, Secretary, IEI Jammu, Er Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Rahat Gupta, Gopal Sharma, Rajinder Bali, Anil Gupta, Anil Thappa, ZA Malik and Sudhir Kumar.
Prominent among those present were Rajan Mengi, Brahm Jyoti, Kulbhushan Bhau, SP Singh, Vijay Manhas, Ajay Talwar, Sunil Sharma, Arfat Masud and Ashish Bhasin.
The proceedings of the convention were conducted by Er Gopal Sharma.
