Gear up to ensure peaceful polls: DGP to cops

JAMMU, Sept 17: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh has directed the police personnel to be fully prepared for peaceful and smooth conduct of municipal elections. He also assured that their requirements will be looked into sympathetically.
He stated this while chairing a meeting of police personnel here today. The meeting was also attended by IGP Jammu Dr SD Singh Jamwal, IGP Armed Danesh Rana, DIG JSK Range Bhim Sen Tuti, SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta and Commandants of Armed/IR Battalions, Zonal heads and SPs of different wings.
DGP said that with no fatal injury in successful operation at Kakriyal, the achievement graph of Jammu police has gone further up. He said that JKP has been fighting the militancy from last so many years and keeping in view our capabilities, we are near our goal of completely finishing the militancy from the State. Dilbag Singh added that a number of successful operations were conducted against the militants in the State in past one week.
Singh said that the police has the twin responsibility of being custodian as well as maintainer of the peace and they are premier stake holders in peace.
While giving the orders for speedy redressal of  grievances, DGP said that the personnel today are very capable and are thinking in a positive direction for the department. He said that it should be their priority to strengthen the jawan, who is the face of our force. He also advised the personnel to deliver at all posts and in all circumstances.
He assured the officers and jawans that he would work for their welfare and the decisions in this regard will be taken on appropriate forum.
Dilbag Singh while presenting cash reward of Rs 1 lakh, assured all possible help to the family whose house got damaged in Kakriyal encounter. DGP also rewarded the officers and the jawans who took part in this operation.
Earlier, IGP Jammu Dr SD Singh Jamwal presented the welcome address.
DIG JSK Range Bhim Sen Tuti briefed the DGP about the response and the actions which went into making this encounter very successful.
In the end, SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta presented the vote of thanks. RC Kotwal, SP Headquarters Jammu conducted the proceedings.
