JAMMU, Oct 31: Government Degree College (GDC) Khour lifted the Wrestling title, while GDC Mendhar and IDS Sehora advanced to next stage in Cricket during the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Championships, being organized by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here today.
The third day of the ongoing Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament for men witnessed a great exhibition of skills and efforts from the semifinalist team.
In the first semifinal, PG Arts defeated GDC Paloura by (4-1) in the actual time of play.
The goal scorers from PG Arts were Gourav Raina during 5th and 10th minutes, Saval Ahmed in 18th minute and Amandeep Sharma in 37th minute.
The goal scorer from GDC Paloura was Gurpreet Singh in 24th minute.
The match was witnessed by chief guest Prof Sanjay Singh and sports enthusiasts.
In the second semifinal, GDC Kathua trounced GDC Hirnagar by (4-2) in the penalty shootout.
The match was witnessed by G.S. Bakshi Secretary Hockey India, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
The technical panel comprises Jagjeet Singh Reen, Matinder Pal Singh, Ranveet Singh, Harmik Singh, Dalvinder Singh, Jaggeet Singh, Harvinder Pal Singh and Joginder Singh.
On the 2nd day of Inter Collegiate Kabaddi Tournament for women, PG Department beat GCW Kathua by 19 points (48-29), GDC Khour beat GDC Kathua by 11 points (38-27) and GCW Gandhi Nagar beat GDC Paloura by 17 points (27-10).
The matches were witnessed by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education alongwith match officials Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Ankush Gupta, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh and Gagan Kumar.
On the final day of Inter Collegiate Wrestling Championship for men, Prof Prikshit Singh Manhas from Department of SHTM, University of Jammu was the chief guest who interacted with the wrestlers of different weight categories and also distributed medals to the winner wrestlers.
In the Championship, Government Degree College (GDC) Khour was declared winner with 21 points and GDC Kathua was declared as runner-up with 13 points.
In 57 kgs, Vineet Kumar of GDC RS Pura secured Gold medal, while Narvind Singh of GDC Jindrah bagged Silver medal. Surinder Singh of GDC Bani and Asif Mohammad of GDC Basholi secured Bronze medals.
In 61 kgs, Bagh Hussain of GDC Hiranagar bagged Gold medal, while Arun of GDC Jindrah secured Silver medal. Shori Lal of GDC Kathua and Ashish Sharma of GDC Mahanpur bagged Bronze medals.
In 65 kgs, Amit Manhas of GDC Khour bagged Gold medal, while Mukesh Singh of GDC Rajouri secured Silver medal. Munish Sharma of GDC Paloura and Ram Saroop of GDC Akhnoor bagged Bronze medals.
In 70 kgs, Vishwajeet Singh of GDC Kathua bagged Gold medal, while Noman Mushtaq of GDC Paloura secured Silver medal. Karanvir Singh of GDC RS Pura and Abhey Sharma of GDC Akhnoor bagged Bronze medals.
In 74 kgs, Sahil Sharma of GDC Akhnoor bagged Gold medal, while Rahul Kumar of GDC Khour secured Silver medal. Mohammad Shafiq of GDC Reasi and Akhil Sharma of GDC Kathua bagged Bronze medals.
In 79 kgs, Ajay Singh of SPMR Commerce College bagged Gold medal, while Keshav Manhas of Trikuta Degree College secured Silver medal. Munish Jamwal of GDC Kathua and Mohammad Aftab of MAM College secured Bronze medals.
In 86 kgs, Ankush Sharma of GDC Akhnoor bagged Gold medal, while Arun Vir of GDC Jindrah secured Silver medal. Sangram Singh of GDC Kathua and Happy of GDC Udhampur bagged Bronze medals.
In 92 kgs, Sajjan Sharma of GDC Paloura bagged Gold medal, while Ajay Kumar of GDC Khour secured Silver medal. Sahil Singh of GGM Science College and Abhimanyu of PG bagged Bronze medals.
In 97 kgs, Raman Singh of GDC Khour, Shubam of GGM Science College and Sourab Choudhary of GDC Kathua bagged Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
In 125 kgs, Diksesh Manhas of GDC Khour, Darpan Sharma of GDC Kathua and Akbir Singh of Trikuta Degree College secured Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
The bouts were officiated under the supervision of Jai Bharat NIS Coach. The other referees include Sahil Sharma, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Mulkh Raj Sharma and Pankaj Sapolia.
Among others present were Ramesh Sharma, Dr Brij Baloria, Sanjeev Jamwal, Sandeep Sharma, Roshan Sharma, Kajal Premi, Sunil Sharma, Vikram Jamwal, Gautam Sharma, Vikesh Sharma and Vikas Karlopia.
Meanwhile, GDC Mendhar and IDS Sehora outplayed rivals in their respective matches and registered berth in the next stage of the ongoing Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament for men at varsity ground, here today.
In the first match, GDC Mendhar defeated ASCOMS Batra and sailed into the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
Electing to bat first after winning the team, GDC Mendhar scored 152 runs by losing 8 wickers in allotted 18 overs. Sharaz Ahmed was the top scorer with 36 runs, while Sakib, Shoib and Aejaz made 32, 21 and 18 runs respectively.
For ASCOMS Batra, Sameer scalped 4 wickets, while Yuvraj took 2 wickets and Qadir pocketed 1 wicket.
In reply, ASCOMS Batra failed to chase the target and bundled out at 127 runs by losing 9 wickets in stipulated 18 overs. Basit played a magnificent inning of 79 runs, while Ashfaq chipped in 29 runs.
For GDC Mendhar, Sharaz and Riyaz took 2 wickets each.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain and Rahul Kumar as umpires, while Amandeep Singh maintained the scorecard.
In the second match, IDS Sehora registered win over GDC Kathua by 10 wickets and sailed into the semis of the tournament.
Batting first, GDC Kathua scored 120 runs by losing 8 wickets in stipulated 18 overs. Aditya was the top scorer with 35 runs, while Rohit and Mithu made 30 and 10 runs respectively.
For IDS Sehora, Navit scalped 3 wickets, while Dhananjay and Shantanu took 2 wickets each.
In the second inning, IDS Sehora chased the target in 13.4 overs without losing any wicket. Dhananjay played a magnificent inning of unbeaten 67 runs, while Manik Sharma scored unbeaten 42 runs.
The match was officiated Vijay Kumar, Amandeep Singh and Raj Kumar, while the scoreboard was maintained by Vijay Kumar Raina.
