JAMMU, Feb 6: Government College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu, hosted the State Youth Parliament 2019 for J&K wherein 50 participants from 19 districts of the State participated.
The participants voiced their viewpoints on the different topics given by the Ministry of Youth & Sports Welfare v.i.z. One nation one election- a must for good governance, India is the threshold of becoming a super power, Digital India: Bridging the urban rural divide and Swashta – Building mass movement in India.
The event was organized under the overall supervision of Dr Hemla Aggrawal, Principal of the College along with the team of Prof B B Anand, Prof Vipul Saraf, Prof Nidhi Kotwal, Prof Neeru Dhalla, Prof Preeti Dubey and college NSS Officers.
Director Colleges Dr Zahoor Ahmed Chatt was chief guest while Romesh Arora (MLC), Lalit Mangotra, Indira Rathore, Sohail Kazmi and SSP Mabassir Latifi were the jury members.
All the participants expressed their views on their respective topics and they created warmth amongst the august gathering. Out of 50 participants, two candidates namely Srishti (District Jammu) and Vishal Pathania (District Kathua) were adjudged first and second, who will participate in the National Youth Parliament to be held on 23rd and 24th February 2019 at New Delhi. Bhuvnesh Pargal (District Samba) and Jasvir Singh (District Udhampur) are the waiting candidates.
The certificates were distributed to the participants by the jury members. In addition to this, the highest scorer from each district in the DYP2019 will participate in the National Youth Parliament as delegate.
In his address, Prof Chatt highlighted the importance of this activity in which all the best speakers of J&K State were given a chance to come together on a common platform and interact with each other.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC Romesh Arora highlighted the importance of such events initiated by Prime Minister Narender Modi, which helps in unfolding the hidden talent of young minds.
S P Bhatnagar, Regional Director NSS New Delhi, also graced the occasion and in his address he highlighted the entire scheme of National Youth Parliament 2019, launched by the Ministry.
On the occasion, light musical bonanza was also presented before the audience by the students of Govt College for Women Parade Ground Jammu. Prof Vishv Raksha, Programme Co-coordinator NSS Jammu University, presented vote of thanks.
