Ganga calls for promoting entrepreneurship

SAMBA, Nov 17: The Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today attended valedictory function of three -week long entrepreneurship development programme under Sher-e -Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for youth.
The manufacturing, service and agro based training programme was organised by JK Entrepreneurship Development Institute Samba.
The Programme was also attended by MLA Samba, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal, ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Pawan Sharma, Director JKEDI M.I Parray, CPO JKEDI, M.M Khan, District Officer, Divya Sharma, entrepreneurs and other officials.
The Minister appreciated the training programme as it enhances capacity building and provides platform and opportunities for unemployed youth. He informed that EDI sponsored cases have 95 percent success rate in Samba and directed officials to organise such programmes across the district.
He called upon entrepreneurs to watch out for sudden bottlenecks and approach concerned authorities with regular follow-ups. He emphasised upon establishing Customer Trust and belief in ‘brand product’. He cited various success stories of entrepreneurs in the district.
On the occasion, the Minister also informed that proposal for inclusion of matriculate candidates for such training programmes by EDI is under active consideration of the Government.
MLA Samba said that trainees should strive to be Job provider instead of job seeker. He also appealed trainees to judiciously use seed capital provided for their ventures.
Director JKEDI informed about various activities being undertaken by EDI in district and across the State. He informed that under Seed Capital Fund Scheme 119 cases have been sanctioned with seed money Rs 4.23 crore and under youth start up loan scheme, 26 cases for Rs 1.38 crore have been sanctioned. The Minister also interacted with trainees at the programme, who also shared their experiences.
With conclusion of today’s programme, three EDP’s have been successfully completed in the district.
