Gang of highway robbers busted, 3 nabbed

RAJOURI, Nov 8: With the arrest of three accused, Rajouri police has busted a gang of robbers operating on the highway and other adjoining routes for some time.
Official sources said that Rajouri police received information about suspicious movement of some unidentified persons during night hours on highway stretch between Narian to Rajouri while some complaints of thefts in shops located on highway in the said stretch were also received.
Acting on this information, police teams headed by Incharge Police Post, Chingus, SI Fareed Ahmed and SHO Rajouri Insp Ajay Chib under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Jaswant Singh intensified patrolling on highway stretch in the above mentioned area.
Last night, some locals near Kallar informed police that some boys have been spotted near a shop in the area under mysterious circumstances after which police team led by SI Fareed Ahmed rushed to the spot and managed to nab three boys while they were trying to break open shutter of a shop along with cutters.
They were identified as Zahir Abbas, son of Mohd Latief, resident of  Daghani, Azahar Farooq Lone, son of Mohd Farooq, resident of Fatehpur, Rajouri and
Tariq Aziz, son of Mohd Makhna, resident of Daghani.
During the initial investigation, these three boys have been found involved in theft of a shop of in Chatyari area in case FIR 501/2017 u/s 457/380/34 RPC, while a stolen motorcycle kept hidden in bushes has also been recovered by police on their disclosure.
The modus operandi of the trio was such that they used to move on highway stretch in midnight hours under the garb of darkness so as to  find soft targets on vehicles or business establishments and then used to carry out thefts. The police is expecting more recoveries from them.
