JAMMU, Nov 28: A review meeting regarding the working of seventeen schools for the promotion of UN SDGs was organized by the Gandhian Societies namely Gandhi Global Family (GGF), J&K and Gandhi Peace Foundation (GPF) Jammu Chapter at Jodhamal Public School, here.
Trilok Bhist, who took the lead for having organised today’s event volunteered himself to be the nodal school Principal for the meet.
Each school representative made power point presentations and shared videos  of allotted goals like ‘Good Health & Well-Being’ by Tiny Tots Senior  Secondary School ‘No Poverty’  by Alexander Memorial School, ‘Life Below Water’ by  Model Academy, ‘Clean Water & Sanitation’ by Jodhamal Public School,  ‘Life on Land’  by  Heritage School,  ‘Partnership for the Goals’ by K C International School,  ‘Zero Hunger’ by G D Goenka School, ‘Reduce inequality by Doon international School, ‘Decent Work & Economic Growth ‘by Lawrence Public School, ‘Gender Equality by Jammu Sanskriti School, ‘Indu-strial Innovation and Infras-tructure’ by Shiksha Niketan’.
The different activities undertaken by the schools under the goals allotted to the respective schools included rallies and awareness campaigns, literacy programmes among not only the students of their schools respectively, but also among the children from weaker sections of the society. Besides this, the different schools observed the celebration of UN International Days and also organized competitions in the form of poster writing and slogan writing along with symposiums and debates with regard to the goal allotted to them. A few schools also presented in their reports the visits to the slum areas, and the donation camps which they organized to raise the funds to help the poor thus showcasing the elements of social responsibility. The areas where some of the schools were working on the ground included villages Chowadhi, Bhagatpur, Jagati and Balgram.
Padamshree SP Varma, Pesident of Gandhi Global Family, J&K in his address expressed satisfaction over the manner in which the sincere efforts were being made by the schools towards promotion of the SDGs.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, Coordinator of Gandhi Peace Foundation Jammu Chapter, and Dr. Sapna Sangra, co- coordinator GPF coordinated the meet and made certain observatory remarks wherein they talked about certain strategies and mechanisms through which schools can contribute in a bigger way towards such noble causes.
Maneesh Joshi, Coordi-nator GGF, Dr Monica Narang core member GPF, Dinesh Gutpa,  GGF Advisor Jammu Region, Ankush Varma , International Officer,  De Montfort University, England also spoke  on the occasion.
Teachers in-charge from Jodhamal School namely Pratiba Sopori, along with students Arsh Mir, Shaurya Sangra, and Muddabir of class VIII provided the technical support to the meet.
