FUIW appeals trade unions to support all India strike

JAMMU, Sept 1: Federation of Unions of Industrial Workers (FUIW) president Nirdosh Uppal has stressed upon all the trade unions to make grand success the strike call given by the Central Committee on September 2 as all India strike regarding struggle for upliftment of oppressed working class in socio-economic and political spheres of the country.
Mr Uppal while addressing the joint meeting of representatives of different unions active among Industrial workers said, “The predatory capital on neo-liberal prowl has intensified its multi-pronged offensive on the name of overcoming global economic crises. In our country it has assumed various cuts in old and new jobs, retrenchment, forced retirement, increased work load and working hours, downsizing, outsourcing and casualization of permanent jobs, union busting and denial of industrial democracy, the list is endless.”
“The judiciary has enhanced the workers’ exploitation and oppression with whole range of anti- labour laws and regulation anti- worker judiciary verdicts. The corruption in the judicial system makes long delay in justice,” he alleged.
” The sky rocketing profit has been further bolstered by huge tax concessions and other sops provided by the State and Central Govt. Total corporate tax exemption is more than 30 lakh crores in last five years, on other side the 70% of the total population in India lives on Rs20 per day,” he added.
Uppal also stressed upon the abolition of engaging contract labour in the sectors where the nature of works is continuous on regular base. He said the wage ration should be in the ratio of 1:5, from top management to worker including all perks, notification of VDA with respect to minimum wages in J&K State. He asked all trade unions to continue struggle for workers on advanced strategies and tactics and not confine to one day strike as statutory mandate for pressure tactics.
Meanwhile, Indian National Trade Union Congress, state unit led by Shiv Kumar has decided to join all India strike on September 2.
