Fresh Advocates administered oath, delivered license

JAMMU, Apr 17: In a simple but impressive function, State Judicial Academy under the guidance and instructions of Chief Justice (Chief Patron, State Judicial Academy) and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, (Chairman Committee, State Judicial Academy) and Justice Hasnain Masoodi, (Member Committee, State Judicial Academy) held oath ceremony and distribution of Advocates’ license  for the new entrants to the legal profession.
The function was presided over by Justice Hasnain Masoodi. Before delivery of enrolment certificates, they were administered oath by Justice Masoodi.
Justice Masoodi told the newly enrolled Advocates that they must know their roles and responsibilities in the administration of justice. “It is their duty to provide  their clients with factual information, to listen well and with respect, to help them with realistic, fair and legal solutions, to make appropriate referrals and provide follow-up, to develop a positive working relationship, to strive for “win-win” solutions and to avoid judgment, assumption, taking over, taking credit, encouraging dependence, treat everyone with dignity and respect, to promote human rights, justice and fair treatment, to work within personal limits and set clear boundaries and to follow a clear Code of Ethics,” he added.
He said that an Advocate must be  sympathetic, does his/her research, is fair and just, asks questions – doesn’t assume, is patient and calm, admits own mistakes & takes responsibility and knows the resources and makes useful referrals.
He further told them that landmark judgments are the result of right assistance of advocates and advised the young lawyers to prepare their cases after complete preparation and research because even a petty and insignificant case for them might be most significant for their client. Therefore, they must works with realistic expectations.
Suresh Kumar Sharma, Registrar General, State High Court, who is also Incharge Director, State Judicial Academy conducted the proceedings and delivered the license (Enrolment certificate) to the 26  Advocates of Jammu province.
