French charges for man accused of tossing kitten

PARIS, Feb 3: Officials say a 24-year-old man accused of throwing a kitten high into the air and uploading a video clip of the act to his Facebook profile faces up to two years in prison and a USD 40,500 fine.
The accused faces charges of animal cruelty today in Marseille. France’s national animal welfare association SPA is organising a demonstration outside the courthouse at 1300 GMT.
The video shows the man throwing the 4-month-old kitten named Oscar high into the air towards a large bush. A second clip shows him throwing the cat at an apartment building wall, and the cat plunging hard onto a concrete sidewalk.
The Marseille SPA office says it is treating Oscar for a broken foot and a stomach injury suffered in the attack. (Agencies)
